We would like to invite you to participate in the company workshop with L’Oréal on the topic “Overstock vs out of stock: fighting the bullwhip effect for L‘Oréal’s new launch products”. The workshop is taking place on January 26, 2018 from 10:00 am – 15:30 pm in Düsseldorf. Application deadline is on January 17th. Please note that the workshop is held in German language.

Die Neueinführung von Produkten ist immer mit Unsicherheiten verbunden. Bei L‘Oreal gilt dies für mehr als 150 neue Produkte pro Jahr. Eine zu späte oder falsche Reaktion auf einen ersten Hype führt zu Bestandsengpässe – gefolgt von Überbeständen, wenn Ware zwar wieder vorhanden, der Hype aber längst vorbei ist. Es gilt also schnell zu sein: Erleben und erfahren Sie, mit welchen Maßnahmen L’Oréal gemeinsam mit dem Handel es schafft Warenverfügbarkeit und Bestandslevel über die komplette Supply Chain optimal zu gestalten.

Digital Transformation brings a lot of possibilities and a lot of speed to our world. The need to be innovate becomes imperative to stay ahead -Businesses are bringing Design Thinking in-house. Design Thinking is the adoption of a design mindset and human-centric design methods to solve problems, frame opportunities and achieve innovation. Design Thinking is particularly useful for problems where human behavior, multi-disciplinary collaboration and creativity are important. As every year, the ZIB WiSo invites you to submit your applications for participation in our annual summer school in New York City, WiSo@NYC, from 6 August to 14 September 2018.

The 6-week programme offers a unique learning atmosphere in one the world's most vibrant cities as well as the opportunity to earn up to 24 ECTS. The courses are read by US-American and international guest professors. Furthermore, you will have the exclusive opportunity to further expand your practical skills and knowledge during several corporate and institutional visits.

Details regarding accreditation, tentative course content as well as application details and the link for the ILIAS course folder can be found on the programme website.

We are looking forward to you application until Wednesday 31 January 2018 via the WEX platform (see programme website for more information).

Registration for “Business English” and “English for the Social Sciences” language courses start 19.01.2019. The course is open to all WiSo faculty students but places are limited and allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. 

Before being admitted to a course, you will need to take a placement test to evaluate your current English language proficiency. The next round of placement tests will be starting 22.01.2018. Bachelor students (excluding those studying Lehramt BK1) have the possibility to obtain 6 ECTS within the module Studium Integrale on successful completion and passing of the course.

Koς University, Istanbul – meet the coordinator, Friday 19 January 2018 at ZIB WiSo Students interested attending a summer school or a full term abroad, offered by Koς University Istanbul are invited to meet the coordinator of Koς University, Sedef Ercetin. Sedef, Team Leader of International Cooperations of Koς University will be happy to give a short presentation and to answer any questions.

In this context, the department of economics will inform about upcoming structural changes in the programme as well which will take effect in winter term 2018/19. The Kölner Verein für europäische Zusammenarbeit e.V. is organizing the next exchange with the partner university from Warsaw, the Warsaw School of Economics.
