In the "German Start-up Monitor 2018" (DSM) of the Bundesverband Deutsche Startups e.V., the University of Cologne made it into the Top 10 and is thus one of the best start-up universities in Germany. A decisive factor for this success is the GATEWAY Start-up Service, which serves as a contact and advice point for all those interested in setting up a company.

"We believe that excellent start-ups are created in an excellent university. The University of Cologne is committed to creating the best conditions for development and growth for founders," says Dr. Rainer Minz, Rector of the University of Cologne's representative for alumni work, fundraising and technology transfer. "In a research-strong university such as the University of Cologne, many innovative business ideas emerge that are also to be implemented.

The German Start-up Monitor of the Bundesverband Deutsche Startups e.V. represents 1,550 start-ups with 17,647 employees and 3,763 founders. It is thus the only comprehensive and differentiated study of the start-up ecosystem in Germany.
