111 Deutschlandstipendien for students of the WiSo Faculty in 2020

Ceremonial presentation of the certificates in the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum in Cologne

Professor Michael Overesch, Vice Dean of Studies and Teaching of the WiSo Faculty, presents a scholarship holder with her certificate.

Together with committed sponsors, the University of Cologne supports students with above-average performance with the Deutschlandstipendium. Particularly qualified first-year students* as well as students in higher semesters and Master's students receive at least 300 euros per month over a minimum period of two semesters.

Half of the scholarship is financed by public funds. Private sponsors lay the foundation for each Deutschlandstipendium with their donations, and the Federal Government increases the amount accordingly. In selecting the scholarship holders, personal biography as well as social commitment play a role in addition to good high school graduations and study achievements.

On Thursday evening (January 16, 2020), this year's scholarships were awarded at a ceremony in the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum. Representatives of the university and the sponsors presented the certificates to the scholarship holders. During a subsequent get-together, scholarship holders and sponsors got to know each other personally and engaged in a lively exchange.

For the winter semester 2019/20, the University of Cologne, with the support of the sponsors, is awarding a total of around 310 scholarships worth over 1.1 million euros. 111 scholarships will go to students of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.
