In cooperation with the Warsaw School of Economics

Double Master's Programme in Business Administration: Cologne–Warsaw

The Warsaw School of Economics (Szkola Glówna Handlowa Warszawie, SGH) was founded in 1906 as the first public university for economics and management in Poland.

Facts & figures

  • 16,000 students at bachelor's, master's and PhD levels
  • Nearly 1,000 faculty members
  • More than 150 partner universities worldwide
  • Throughout the 20th century, every third economist in Poland was a SGH graduate
  • Highest Financial Times ranking of all Central and Eastern European management programmes
  • First place among economic schools in all surveys of Poland’s higher education institutions

The Double Master's Programme offered by the University of Cologne and Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) examines the increasing economic and political importance of Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. As Poland is the largest of the CEE countries that joined the EU in 2004 and a key player in the heart of Europe, it was an obvious choice for the University of Cologne to strengthen its academic ties with Poland's pre-eminent business school. With its focus on academic training in international business, the programme is ideal for highly qualified and motivated students who wish to enhance their language skills and intercultural understanding.

Programme structure

The programme is integrated into the Master's degree programmes in Business Administration at the University of Cologne and the Master's degree programmes at the Warsaw School of Economics and incorporates courses from both. It is based on recognition of credit points and includes a master's thesis, which is written during the second year of study. Students on the Double Master's Programme in Business Administration spend their first year at the University of Cologne and their second year at the Warsaw School of Economics. After successful completion of the programme, they are awarded two degrees: a Master of Science in Business Administration by the University of Cologne and a Master of Science in International Business or in Management by the Warsaw School of Economics

Students can choose one of the degree options offered by the University of Cologne (Corporate Development, Finance, Marketing or Supply Chain Management) and one specialisation at the Warsaw School of Economics (International Business or Management).
