In cooperation with the Indian Institute of Management

Double Master's Programme in Business Administration: Cologne–Ahmedabad

Founded in 1961, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) is one of the leading business schools in India and the Asia-Pacific region. It is also the second-oldest business school in India. In 2008, the IIMA became the first business school in India to receive EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation.

With about 6 million inhabitants, Ahmedabad is the fifth-largest city in India. Located in the state of Gujarat in Western India, Ahmedabad offers a wide range of festivals and celebrations, such as Uttarayan, an annual kite-flying festival that takes place in January every year.

Students on the Double Master's Programme with the IIMA develop an in-depth understanding of economic, political and management issues from an Indian perspective, and gain access to the Indian business community. With India being one of the world's largest emerging markets, this knowledge puts graduates of the programme in an excellent position in terms of their future careers.

Programme structure

The programme is integrated into the Master's degree programmes in Business Administration at the University of Cologne and the Post Graduate Programme in Management at the IIMA and incorporates courses from both. It is based on recognition of credit points and includes a master's thesis. Students on the Double Master's Programme in Business Administration spend their first fall term at the University of Cologne, then go to the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad for a year and come back to University of Cologne for their fourth term. After successful completion of the programme, they are awarded two degrees: a Master of Science in Business Administration by the University of Cologne and a Post Graduate Programme in Management Diploma by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

Students can apply for one specialisation at the University of Cologne (Corporate Development, Finance, Marketing or Supply Chain Management) and will study the second year courses of the Post Graduate Programme in Management at the IIMA.
