Welcome to the WiSo Faculty Prof Dr Nicolas Fugger

Dean Ulrich Thonemann welcomes new Professor for Behavioral Supply Chain Management.

As of January 1, 2020, Professor Nicolas Fugger has been appointed to the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo Faculty) of the University of Cologne and will strengthen the faculty in the Chair of Behavioral Supply Chain Management.

At the beginning of the week, WiSo Dean Ulrich Thonemann personally welcomed Prof Dr Fugger. Both scientists have known each other for quite some time: Even before and during his doctorate with a focus on procurement design, Professor Fugger supported research in the DFG Research Unit Design & Behavior - Economic Engineering of Firms and Markets.

After completing his doctorate Nicolas Fugger worked at the Mannheim ZEW - Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research - where he has been Deputy Head of the Market Design Unit since 2017. In future Professor Fugger will especially support the WiSo Faculty's key research initiatives "Design & Behavior" and "Behavioral Management Science". In addition, Prof. Dr. Fugger will be active in the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute: Markets and Public Policy.

Nicolas Fugger is well equipped for this interdisciplinary and international work with his research focus on shopping design and applied auction theory. In addition to his guest residency at Pennsylvania State University, he can also point to several publications in renowned magazines as for example „Management Science“.

We are pleased that the WiSo Faculty has been able to attract a promising researcher in Professor Fugger and wish him a good start and much success!
