The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) is to have a new director

Prof. Achim Wambach, Ph. D, becomes the new president of the ZEW in Mannheim

Prof. Ph. D. Achim Wambach will be the successor of Clemens Fuest, current president and scientific director of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). This was announced by a spokesperson for ZEW on Tuesday confirming a report by the "Mannheimer Morgen". In the spring of 2016, Clemens Fuest will be the successor of Hans-Werner Sinn at the head of the Munich ifo-Institute, so that Prof. Dr. Wambach will take over his position as the president of ZEW. The date has not been fixed yet and will be announced shortly. ZEW's Supervisory Board has already agreed. The committees of the University of Mannheim still have to consent, because ZEW's presidency is combined with a professorship at the University of Mannheim.
Wambach is director of the Institute for Economic Policy (iwp) at the University of Cologne and a chair holder at the Department of Policy Studies at the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences. Furthermore, he is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Federal Ministry of Economics and a member of the Monopoly Commission. The Monopoly Commission is a consultative body for the federal government in the domains of competition policy.

Huge congratulations to Prof. Wambach for his success and the new position!

The Cologne Stadtanzeiger wrote also an article on it, which you can read here.
