Teacher Training Tool introduced

International project "ReCall" at the Chair of economics and business education.

ReCall Multiplikatorenveranstaltung - Professor Matthias Pilz

How can self- and social-competencies  be trained at vocational schools in the retail sector? This question was focusedat the multiplier event at the Institute for Vocational, Economic and Social Education, which was aimed at teachers, school principals, training officers in companies, social partners, ministries and other interested parties.

On 22 September 2017, the results of the strategic partnership project "Retail Sector Competencies for all Teachers" (ReCall) were presented at the University of Cologne. The project has developed a new digital training tool to train teachers in teaching self- and social- competencies.

Overview of the international project

The project started at the end of 2015 and will run until 31.10.2017.

Three vocational schools, from Germany, Italy and Poland, as well as the University of Cologne, the University of Bergamo/Italy and the Pedagogical University of Krakow/Pland, were involved. In the course of the project ‘ReCall’ a digital information and training tool for teachers at vocational schools in the retail sector was developed.

Professor Dr. Matthias Pilz commented on the aims of the project: "Online learning has only limited reach in both academic teaching and teacher training so far. The project aims to push the existing boundaries much further."

Support for teachers: The Teacher Training Tool

The Teacher Training Tool (‘TTT’)  supports teachers in dealing with teaching-learning-arrangements in self- and social competencies. Teaching these competencieswithin the vocational education and training sector has great relevance to achieve employability in all European countries. This especially concerns the customer-intensive retail sector.

The TTT and the integrated teaching-learning materials promoting  self- and social competencies in the classroom are available "Open Educational Resources" (OER) on the internet. OER ensures the sustainable use and disseminationof the training and the connected teaching materials in the Europe-wide teacher training.

Publication of the TTT

The TTT will be available online and costless all over Europe in the languages German, English, Italian and Polish at the end of October 2017.

Further information about the project can be found here: www.recall.uni-koeln.de
The link to the TTT is published on the project website.
