Organised by Professor Claudia Loebbecke, Director of the Department of Media and Technology Management of the Cologne WiSo Faculty and Deputy Member of the WDR Broadcasting Council, bachelor and master students from the University of Cologne, specialising in media and technology management and media studies, visited the studios and offices of the "Lokalzeit Studio Köln" of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) in Cologne's city centre in April. The deputy studio manager Lothar Lenz first presented interesting and informative facts about WDR and the public media and informed the students about possible career perspectives. This was followed by a round of questions, which was actively used by the students.

As a highlight, the students were then allowed to participate in the editorial conference of the WDR programme "Lokalzeit Köln" and learned, among other things, which criteria are used to decide on the broadcasting of contributions. Afterwards, the TV studio of Lokalzeit Köln could be visited and the staff of the programme could be watched over the shoulder. The exciting insight into everyday media life ended with a tour of the premises and studios of the radio station WDR 2. We would like to thank WDR, especially Mr. Lenz, for the informative day and Mrs. Loebbecke for the realisation and we are looking forward to our next visit.
