Strong research universities in business administration

University of Cologne ranks fourth place

According to a recent WirtschaftsWoche ranking, the University of Cologne is one of the most research-intensive German-speaking universities in business administration. The University of Cologne ranks 4th in the ranking, in which 200 German-speaking universities were compared, putting it in 2nd place within Germany (Source: WirtschaftsWoche 3 / 11.1.2019 ).

The research institute KOF of ETH Zurich prepared the study together with the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) for Wirtschaftswoche. For this purpose, all relevant articles on business topics of the last ten years from about 860 professional journals were analysed and evaluated with regard to 200 German-speaking universities. The topics ranged from accounting and marketing to finance and information management to logistics and health management.

In order to take account of the fact that not every journal has the same reputation, a weighting was applied to the scoring, which is based on the journal ranking of the Association of University Teachers for Business Administration.

In the last ten years, 938 publications by 71 authors, including 34 professors, have been published by researchers inside the University of Cologne.
