A warm Welcome

We are glad to welcome our new professors at the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences:

Professor Sarah Carol:
Sarah Carol is a new team member of the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology (ISS).
Throughout her research, Prof. Carol focuses on the role of religion for demographic behaviour including partner choice, divorce, abortion, and interethnic relationships of immigrants. In her recent project she is also studying whether religion acts as a bridge or a buffer for educational achievements of Muslim minorities in Europe.

Professor Lea Cassar:
Lea Cassar became a new Junior Professor in Behavioral Managerial Economics. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Zurich and a MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford. Her main research interests are Organizational Economics, Contract Theory, and Behavioral and Experimental Economics. Mrs Cassar's work focuses in particular on the role of non-monetary incentives in screening and motivating employees.

Professor Monika Imschloß:
Monika Imschloß was appointed the new IFH Junior Professor for Marketing and Retailing at the Department of Retailing and Customer Management. Her research fields at the University of Cologne are Multi-Sensory Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Shopper Marketing.

Professor Esther Kang:
Esther Kang has been named as the new Assistant Professor of Consumer Psychology and Behavior in the research division of “Value Creation in a Changing Customer and Media Environment”. She holds a PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Professor Kang's research interests include consumer’s information processing, imagery and memory in the context of new media such as social media, online retailing, and online marketing campaigns.

Professor Merlin Schaeffer:
Merlin Schaeffer holds a doctorate degree from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and a Master of Arts from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Previously he was a researcher at WZB–Berlin Social Science Center and a guest professor at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). His research interests include (ethnic) stratification and mobility, intergroup and inter-cultural conflicts, and research methods. Professor Schaeffer further strengthens the research cluster "Demography and Social Inequality" at the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology (ISS).

Professor Daniel Wiesen:
Daniel Wiesen was appointed the new associate Professor in Behavioral Service Management and became a new team member of the Department of Business Administration and Health Care Management. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics at University of Bonn in 2011. Before his appointment Daniel worked in management consulting and as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Personnel Economics and Human Resource Management at the University of Cologne. Since 2014 Daniel holds a visiting researcher position at the Department of Health Management and Health Economics at the University of Oslo. His research focuses on Health economics, Experimental and behavioral economics, and Decision making under risk.

Professor Yingshuai Zhao:
Yingshuai Zhao is a new team member of the Department of Supply Chain Management and Management Science.Her research focuses on Behavioral Management Science, especially in the field of Supply Chain Management (e.g. inventory management, contract design and revenue management). The topic mainly explores the interactions between human behavioral factors and implementations of well-accepted managerial models.
