New international master’s programme at the WiSo Faculty

Demography and Social Inequality

The WiSo Faculty has launched a new Double Master’s Programme with a focus on Demography and Social Inequality.

The attractive international master’s programme was developed jointly with the University of Groningen and gives students the opportunity to benefit from the outstanding expertise of two top-ranking universities. After completing their first study year at the University of Cologne and their second study year at the University of Groningen, successful graduates are awarded two Master’s degrees.

The study programme reflects the research cluster "Demography and Social Inequality" at the ISS of the WiSo Faculty. It focuses on demographic change, population dynamics and the challenges faced by modern societies due to increasing life expectancy, decreasing birth rates and migration. Students will learn to apply advanced social research methods and data analysis, providing necessary methodological expertise to deal with current issues such as ageing, social inequality, family, integration and education, among others. Students will have the possibility of developing interdisciplinary research skills.

Application will close on 15 May 2016 for a study start in the upcoming fall term 2016/17. For more information on the programme and the admission procedure, please visit the website of the Double Master’s Programme in Demography and Social Inequality.
