Prof. Dr. Bernd Irlenbusch about the Volkswagen scandal

Prof. Dr. Bernd Irlenbusch

In 2015 it became public that Volkswagen had manipulated the tests on the emissions of the diesel vehicles produced with the aid of a software. In his article Volkswagen and the moral business behaviour Prof. Dr. Bernd Irlenbusch (Seminar for Business Administration, Corporate Development and Economic Ethics at the University of Cologne) deals with the question of how such scandals arise and how they can be prevented in the future.

Irlenbusch sees the reason for such scandals in the fact that moral behaviour and business ethics were not properly communicated from the outset. He then describes his own teaching method and how he teaches his students moral behaviour so that they can assert and convey their values in their future profession.
