Handelsblatt's faculties-ranking 2015

University of Cologne at place 4 of the top faculties for economics

In comparison with the ranking in 2013 the university of Cologne was able to advance by two places and reached this year the 4th position in the ranking of top faculties for economics. Prof. Dr. Matthias Sutter from the Chair of  Economics: Design and Behavior is in this ranking the leader in research at the faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences. Considering exclusively the german universities, the university of Cologne ranks 3rd place directly behind LMU Munich and university Bonn. If you add the points for economics (71) and the points for business administration in 2014 (83), the university of Cologne gains 154 points and surpasses all other german universities.

The economic-ranking of the business and financial newspaper Handelsblatt is published every second year. For that Handelsblatt regularly examines the research achievement of the faculties of economics on the basis of scientific publications of the economists in professional journals. On behalf of Handelsblatt the Institute for Business Cycle Research of ETH Zurich evaluates more than 1500 professional journals. From the rankings of the economists the institute computes the ranking lists of the best-performing faculties in research.
