Behavioral Science in Supply Chain Management

DFG

A research project with international cooperation which is part-financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), has recently been approved. Prof. Ulrich W. Thonemann of the University of Cologne and Prof. Xiaobo Zhao of the Tsinghua University are leading the project. Jun. Prof. Yingshuai Zhao from the University of Cologne and associate Prof. Junlin Chen of the Central University of Finance and Economics take part as primarily responsibles. Jun. Prof. Anna-Lena Sachs of the University of Cologne is also part of one subproject.

The project executes behavioral science in supply chain cooperations. The traditional research of Business Management gives insight in the maximization of business efficiency, the behavioral science gives us insight into human decisions and incorperates this behavior into optimizing the business‘ efficiency. Since humans play a big role in management decisions, behavioral science can provide more useful suggestions for the practice.

The University of Cologne and the Tsinghua University are both leading universities respectively in Germany and China. The cooperation of those two universities instigates a continuative research and promotes the exchange of information as well as students.

We are looking forward to promising results of the project.
