Contract signed for the Special Library Sociology

On October 4, 2016, a contract was signed for the Special Library Sociology. Thus, it is officially sealed, as it has been hinted at through close collaboration for the past two years: The library for sociology merged with the USB Cologne.

From now on, the advantages of a special library can now be fully exploited: The USB carries out the acquisition work for the special library Sociology and makes available its automated lending. In addition, the stock is perceived and utilized on a nationwide basis by the participation in the North Rhine-Westphalia Union Catalog.

Dean Werner Mellis underlined in his speech a change over time in form of digitization as well as changed accompanying demands on libraries by students and employees. In this context, Mr. Mellis sincerely thanked the library team for the commitment and patience they show daily in their dedicated work.

At an official ceremony Prof. Clemens Kroneberg of the Institute for Sociology and Social psychology (ISS) and the dean of the WiSo Faculty, Prof. Werner Mellis, signed the contract for a shared special library Sociology. The director of the USB, Dr. Hubertus Neuhausen, was represented by Dr. Christiane Suthaus.
