The Faculty's international profile
The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo Faculty) at the University of Cologne considers internationalisation a high priority. Partnerships with first-class universities around the world form the basis of numerous international activities and an attractive portfolio of international study and exchange programmes. The Cologne WiSo Faculty is the only German university that is a member of the internationally renowned networks PIM (Partnership in International Management) and CEMS (The Global Alliance in Management Education).
International students can choose from a wide range of courses specifically designed for them. Likewise, the WiSo Faculty enables and encourages its own students to gain international experience as a vital component of their studies. In addition to student exchanges, shorter-term international programmes and summer schools offer insights into other cultures and teaching methods.
To further their international experience, students can opt for one of the WiSo Faculty's Double Master's Programmes jointly offered with partner universities in various study fields, or the international master's degree in International Management (CEMS MIM). The WiSo Faculty also encourages 'internationalisation at home' by offering a broad range of courses taught in English, a summer school for both Cologne and international students, as well as lectures with international speakers. International research collaborations, exchanges at doctoral level and close ties with international companies all help to make the Faculty's strategy a success.
Internationalisation at the WiSo Faculty is facilitated by its own International Relations Center (ZIB WiSo). The Faculty was among the first in Germany to adopt this concept, for which the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) awarded ZIB WiSo a German Foreign Office prize for its "excellent services on behalf of international students".
