Career Tuesday with Teach First Germany on January 7th, 2020

Application at NGOs using the example of Teach First Germany

With us the flood  - Teach First Germany (TFD) is an NGO, which shows that young people in social hotspots can be successful. For this purpose, university graduates of various fields of study are working as "Fellows" nationwide at schools with a focal point: two years. Full-time. Paid. As additional teachers in lessons and full day Fellows support students especially where they often fail: at transitions in the education system. Fellows are selected in a multi-stage application process, prepared for two-year school assignments for three months, and assisted and trained as part of the TFD Leadership Program.
NGOs are neither originally located in the state or in the economic sector, nor exclusively in the private sector. Unlike companies in the private sector, NGOs are not profit-oriented, but above all value-based. But how does an NGO convey and represent its values? How do you reflect on recruiting and applicant selection? Using the example of Teach First Germany, the lecture by the responsible recruiter of the West region provides insights into a field of work that is exciting for graduates of the social sciences as well as in the application and selection process of NGOs. You have the opportunity to get to know first-hand a nationwide and internationally networked NGO.
In addition, we cordially invite you to talk to our staff at the booth of Teach First Germany at the Job Fair "Berufsfeld Sozialwissenschaften" on January 15, 2020 from 11am to 2pm, in the premises of the University of Cologne.
