In cooperation with the Indian Institute of Management

Double Master's Programme in Business Administration: Cologne–Ahmedabad

Founded in 1961, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) is one of the leading business schools in India and the Asian-Pacific region. It is also the second-oldest business school in India. In 2008, the IIMA became the first business school in India to receive EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation.

With about 6 million inhabitants, Ahmedabad is the fifth-largest city in India. Located in the state of Gujarat in Western India, Ahmedabad offers a wide range of festivals and celebrations, such as Uttarayan, an annual kite-flying festival that takes place in January every year.

Students of the Double Master’s Programme with the IIMA develop an in-depth understanding of economic, political and management issues from an Indian perspective, and gain access to the Indian business community. With India as one of the world’s largest emerging markets, this knowledge puts graduates of the programme in an excellent position for their future careers.

Programme structure

Students selected for the Double Master’s Programme in Business Administration complete their first fall term at the University of Cologne (UoC) then go to the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad (IIMA) for a year and come back to UoC for their fourth semester. Students write their master's thesis at UoC during their fifth semester. The programme is based on a mutual recognition of credit points. After the successful completion of the programme, students are awarded two degrees: A Post Graduate Program in Management Diploma by the IIMA and a Master of Science in Business Administration by the University of Cologne.

Students can apply for one specialisation at the University of Cologne (Corporate Development, Finance, Marketing or Supply Chain Management) and will be studying the courses of the second year of the  Post Graduate Program in Management at the IIMA.
