At the 18th annual interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Conference of the FGF in Oldenburg, Thorsten Semrau (Ernst & Young foundation junior professor for ABWL and Corporate Development, University of Cologne), Jörn Block and Andreas Landgraf (Chair for Corporate Management of the University of Trier) have been awarded the KSG Entrepreneurship Research Award 2014. In their work titled „The differential impact of societal cultural practices on part-time and full-time entrepreneurship: A multi-level, multi-country study”, the authors investigated the impact of cultural differences on the probability of an individual to be active in full- or part-time self-employment. Their research shows significant differences in the impact of cultural dimensions like „uncertainty avoidance“ and „future orientation“ on the probability of self-employment in full- or part-time. These findings are of central relevance to research and practice, as part- and full-time self-employment contributes to economic development in different ways.
