On Thursday, November 27th, Prof. Marc Fischer (Head of the Seminar for ABWL, Marketing and Market Research) will attend a live one-hour studio talk at WDR5 titled “Growth without consumption? – A success story on trial”. The broadcast will start at 20:05.
“Growth without consumption? – A success story on trial”
Moderated by Wolfgang Schmitz
Consumers can see through most claims made by advertisements. Cleverly packaged products on offer meet active and well-informed buyers. As online shopping expands, many department stores experience sales collapses. Only business during Christmas time still delights these retailers. However, looking for the perfect present sill stresses out buyers.
Hence, eco-friendly models of consumption which promise sustainable growth appear more and more appealing. Will consumption really change regarding more responsibility or rather through purposeful renunciation? Will the internet bring along innovations and alternative models of consumption? Which role the consumer will play in the future, will be discussed in the studio talks by:
Dana Giesecke, Sociologist, Foundation "Futurzwei" Prof. Dr. Friedrich von Borries, designer for urban future concepts
Prof. Dr. Marc Fischer, Seminar for ABWL, Marketing and Market Research, University of Cologne
