ASSOCIATION FOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS HONORS PROF. DR. CLAUDIA LOEBBECKE AS 2012 AIS FELLOW

At the 2012 International Conference on Information Systems, the Association for Information Systems (AIS), awarded Prof. Dr. Claudia Loebbecke  the AIS Fellow Award, an award recognizing individuals who have made outstanding
contributions to the information systems discipline in terms of research, teaching, and service.
An AIS Fellow is also expected to have made both significant global and local contributions to the discipline.

“AIS Fellow awardees have distinguished themselves as role models to colleagues and students, and are highly esteemed
for their high levels of professional and personal contribution to the field,” said AIS President Doug Vogel.
“Prof. Dr. Claudia Loebbecke clearly demonstrates these qualities and we congratulate her on receiving this high honor.”

Claudia Loebbecke holds the Chair of Business, Media and Technology Management and is Director of the Department of Media and Technology Management at the University of Cologne.
In 2005-2006 she was president of the Association for Information Systems (AIS); in 2012, she was named AIS Fellow.

Previously, she worked at BIFOA (Germany), INSEAD (France), McKinsey & Co. (Germany), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong/PRC), the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia), Erasmus University (Rotterdam, Netherlands), and Copenhagen Business School (Denmark). Research stays brought her to INSEAD (France),
CISR/Sloan School/MIT (US), Bentley University (US), London School of Economics (UK), LUISS University (Italy), and University of Paris-Dauphine (France).

Claudia Loebbecke serves as Senior Editor of the Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS), as Advisory Board Member of Information Systems Research (ISR) and of the Journal of Information Technology (JIT), and on the Editorial Board of the Information Systems Journal (ISJ)
and Communications of the AIS (CAIS).
She received a Masters (1990) and a Ph.D. (1995) in Business Administration, both from the University of Cologne, Germany,
and an M.B.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA (1991).
She was granted a Fulbright Scholarship (1986/87) and a DAAD Scholarship (1990/91) and is member of the European Academy of Sciences and of Beta Gamma Sigma.

In 2011, she won the prestigious global Research Competition of the 'Society for Information Management' (www.simnet.org) for her study 'Assessing Cloud Readiness' with Dr. T. Thomas and T. Ullrich (both Continental AG).

Her research focuses on business models and management aspects of digital and creative goods and on the innovative use of new media, information, and telecommunication technologies covering aspects such as electronic business, knowledge management, and new organizational forms. 

She has published over 200 internationally peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers and has contributed to the development of more than twenty in-depth case studies in eight different countries. In a recently published research ranking (www.vvenkatesh.com/ISranking),
she ended up among the top 25 for the top eight IS journals in the period 2005 to 2009.
