Double Masters Programme with the Aalto University School of Business, Helsinki, Finland
Aalto University School of Business
The
Aalto University School of Business is the leading business school in Finland and among Europe's premier universities in this field. It is well-known for its excellent research, its close cooperation with companies, and for an open and international atmosphere.
Aalto is a member of CEMS (The Global Alliance in Management Education) and the international PIM network (Partnership in International Management). In 1998, Aalto was one of the first European business schools to gain EQUIS accreditation.
The Double Masters Programme of the University of Cologne in cooperation with the Aalto University School of Business considers that Finland and Germany are facing similar challenges in the next decades due to the current structure of their economic and social systems. The high cost of labour in comparison to emerging markets will force value chain transformation towards innovation and knowledge-driven process areas. At the same time, both countries play a key role in the process of European integration. In the Baltic countries and in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Finland acts as a door opener and multiplier, whereas Germany functions in the midst of an expanded Europe as a motor and driving power of European integration.
Programme Structure
Students selected in Cologne for the Double Masters in Business Administration study their first year at the University of Cologne and their second year at the Aalto University School of Business in Helsinki.
The students can choose one of the five majors available at the University of Cologne (Corporate Development, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain Management) and one of the areas of specialisation of the Aalto University School of Business (e.g. International Business, Information and Service Management, Finance, Management, Accounting, Logistics and Service Management, Marketing).
The students follow a study path integrated into the regular course offer of both universities, as shown in the figure below.
The programme, which can be entirely studied in English, is based on a mutual recognition of the credits obtained at the partner university. The Masters thesis is supervised by both universities. The credit transfer is explained in the figure below.
After the successful accomplishment of the joined study programme, students are awarded the Master of Science in Business Administration and Economics by the Aalto University School of Business as well as the Master of Science in Business Administration by the University of Cologne.
