Double Masters Program in European Studies with Maastricht University

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) with approx. 1,800 students is one of the six Faculties at Maastricht University. Its education approach is based on the principle of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The Faculty has a strong international orientation, reflected in the international student body as well as in research. The Faculty is nicely located in the centre of Maastricht.

Program structure
Students admitted to the Double Degree track study the first year of the Research Master "European Studies" at the Maastricht University. In the second year, they complete modules in the master's program Political Science at University of Cologne, obtaining the regular Masters degree of both institutions.
At both academic institutions certain modules need to be completed which are cross-credited between the universities. Although the program has a standard period of four semesters including the Master thesis, students need to complete a workload of 120 ECTS in order to pass the double degree program. Students spend the first year in Maastricht and the second year in Cologne. The Master thesis is written at the University of Cologne but will be jointly supervised.
