Mission Statement of the Department of Economics
The mission of the Department of Economics is to conduct research on economic and social questions, to prepare our students and scholars for their careers as practitioners and researchers in business, academia, and government and to transfer our findings into industry and public debates. We pursue this mission by emphasizing economic theory and quantitative techniques, by encouraging creative and critical thinking and by stimulating skills in analytical reasoning and effective communication.
